"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation," Henry David Thoreau once wrote. Along with countless others, I've kept my own dream stored away, perhaps to be dusted off and considered again another day.
I thought more about that dream-- perhaps, a larger calling-- throughout today and this past weekend. Sometimes these voices whisper in your ear at the most unexpected times. But as of tonight, I am listening more closely. I am making a vow, here and now, that TODAY is the time to answer this call.
I am committed. I am going to do this. I have nothing to lose.
Serendipitously, thankfully, I stumbled onto Elizabeth Gilbert's thoughts on writing this evening. It was just the push I needed.
